Improvisation 101

*The event has already taken place on this date: Tue, 03/20/2018
The first step in learning to improvise is self-expression; you're a creative person with lots of ideas that need to come out. This is a great way to meet with friends and improve your people skills.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

With Improvisations, you'll pick up social and "breaking the ice" skills for auditions, interviews, or even first dates! Through acting exercises and improv games played, students will learn improvisation skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. In this class, basic skills are taught - including focus, concentration, teamwork, space/object work (mime), trust and scene work. Through a mixture of improvisational theater games (as in ABC/WB's "Whose Line is it Anyway?") and planned activities, students will learn to stop editing their natural instincts and thoughts and begin acting on their initial gut instincts. You will also learn how to break free from the grip of uncomfortable shyness. IN this class, everyone will have fun challenging their self imposed limiting beliefs. The students will always have FUN! There is no way of knowing what will happen each week because each week is different. Why? Because we make it up as we go! No one can make a mistake. Therefore, everyone gets an A in this class. From music to story making, you will be forced to work your brain in ways you never knew you could. Whether your goal is to use improv as a tool for acting or a way to enhance your life, you will walk away with a sense of freedom and empowerment that only this art form can bring.
