5-week Interactive Children’s STEAM Workshop: Our STEAM workshop will correlate both art and science into a fun activity for children of any age. Every other week at the Tivoli Library we will be teaching a different activity that demonstrates the relationship between art and science; these activities will include: Pipette Art; Marble Milk Paper; Monsters and Aliens; Candy Cells; and Salt Vibrations.

Monday, October 2, 2017 @ 4:30pm-5:30pm: Pipette Art! - Pipette art teaches children how to use an essential science tool and make paintings with water colors. Children will learn how to handle different size pipettes and make beautiful drawings out of it!

Monday, October 16, 2017 @ 4:30pm-5:30pm: Marble Milk Paper - This will teach the children about how different amounts of calcium effect saturation rate. Using soap and food coloring they will create a paint pattern in the milk and then transfer their print onto water color paper.

Monday, October 30, 2017 @ 4:30pm-5:30pm: Monsters and Aliens - The kids will learn about what it takes for something to live on another planet. Using the basic qualities of the planets in the solar system the children will create their own aliens and monsters that will survive on their chosen planet.

Monday, November 13, 2017 @ 4:30pm-5:30pm: Candy Cells - Using various forms of candy the kids will learn about the different cell structures and create their own cells out of the candy. This is a fun and yummy treat for the kids.

Monday, November 27, 2017 @ 4:30pm-5:30pm: Salt Vibrations - This is a way for the kids to visualize sound vibrations. Using colored salt and speakers the kids will see how the salt travels based on the vibrations in different music.

Open to children of all ages and free. Your child will have a fun and interactive time learning about science! Happens in the East Room.

Sign-ups are helpful however we welcome any and all drop-ins. If you have any questions please email the teacher, Emma Klement at: ek0299@bard.edu or contact the library.
