3-Day Teen Shakespeare Workshop: Romeo and Juliet with New Genesis Productions

Teens, create a production of the Shakespearean classic, Romeo and Juliet in 3-days with New Genesis Productions.
We will start with a discussion of the play’s themes and issues, finding personal and group connections. We then will take those connections and use them to create inspired and innovative staging. By using the original text we aim to create a modern understanding of these characters.
An audience is invited at the end of the final class, to view the work developed during the workshop.
Props, set, and costumes will be simple and supplied by students and New Genesis Productions.
Free. Ages: 12-17. Contact library to register; space is limited and must commit to full series. Happens on the Third Floor.
New Genesis Productions treats the performing arts as a learning tool–taking a fresh look at Shakespeare classic plays, challenging students to discover a deeper understanding of themselves. NGP creates a supportive environment that promotes collaboration in young actors and fosters a full sense of their value as member of an artistic community. Co-founded by Artistic Director, Lesley Ann Sawhill, she brings years of experience as an actor, director, and teaching artist, designing and applying theatre arts programs in schools and libraries in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
