Adventure Boat Camp | Kids Out and About Hudson Valley

Adventure Boat Camp

At Adventure Boat Camp, kids experience the wonders of the Hudson River on a boat! Either paddling, sailing, or motoring, campers learn to navigate the river, investigate local ecology, tie useful knots, and perhaps catch a fish. Aboard a private fleet of vessels, our experienced captains plan adventures exploring deserted beaches, hiking across uninhabited islands, and scouting urban remnants while encouraging fun and empowerment within the camp group.

Adventure Boat Camp introduces young people to the natural wonders of the Hudson River, builds their boating skills, and gives them a taste of adventure. This camp program weaves together our captain's deep knowledge of local history and ecology, their breadth of maritime experience with a passion for connecting kids to the outdoors. With decades of experience on the river’s waters and with students of all ages, Adventure Boat Camp is unlike any other program operating on the Hudson.

Camp is student lead, hands-on, learning expedition. In just one week, campers gain first hand experience with boating traditions used over the past thousand years. Boat technology, navigational techniques, and ecological connections changed through time, and Adventure Boat Camp curriculum follows this historical progression. Teamwork, empowerment, environmental responsibility, and personal safety are all baked into the daily routines.
