Black History Month Teach-ins at John C. Hart Memorial Library

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 02/26/2022
In honor of Black History Month and in partnership with John C Hart Memorial Library, Yorktown for Justice is proud to present a series of age-leveled teach-ins for the community. The event will take place from 10am-1pm in the community room of the library on Saturday February 26th. At 10am, librarian Daphne Revie will lead the children’s teach-in with a focus on Black art and artists. At 11am, Yorktown High School Counselor Daks Armstrong will lead teens in a discussion about what is means to advocate for others. At 12pm, Paul Edwards will facilitate a conversation for adults about the power of representation. Throughout the event, we will also have a craft station set up for all ages. We will be providing supplies to create a bookmark that honors Black History Month with quotes, images, and graphics.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

ALSO! Please feel free to bring a new or used book in recognition of Black history, anti-racism, representation, advocacy, etc. Donated books will go towards community programming and be made available to the public.
