What would you do if you only have one day to visit the studios of sixteen painters, five ceramic artists, four photographers, a jewelry maker, a couple of collagists, a few fiber artists, a smattering of sculptors, a digital artist, a printmaker, a birdhouse creator a folk artist, an art park and much much more?
It’s really a trick question because the annual ArtEast Open Studio is not just one day but four days across two weekends in October!
This year ArtEast is celebrating its 13th year over two weekends: October 19-20 and October 26-27, 11:00am – 5:00pm. The tour features 30 artists’ opening their studio doors to share their passion with displays of original artwork. At many studios you may come across a special treat of live demonstrations by the artists of the techniques they’ve studied, explored, developed and applied to their works of art. At least a dozen different categories in the creative arts are represented by the artists in the ArtEast family. Within each of these disciplines there is a depth of styles and expressions that each talented artist integrates into their artwork. No matter who you visit, you will be wowed by the level of creativity right here in the Hudson Valley. Although the intent of the tour is for the artists to share their creative vision with art lovers, all of the artists will have original works of art for sale.
There are many returning artists on the tour that have over the past year continued to create within their chosen discipline while a few others have moved to new media and styles so there’s plenty of new work to interest all who visit. There are two new-to-the-tour artists that are excited to have become part of the ArtEast family this year as well.
