BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION at Safe Harbors

Join us as we come together as a community to celebrate Black History Month and Newburgh’s youth on Sunday, February 23 from 3 – 5 p.m. Enjoy a showcase of talent from youth groups in Orange, Ulster and Dutchess County. Each team will present both an original African-inspired dance and hip-hop dance and focus on how the traditional is reflected in the modern day. Light refreshments will be served.

This interactive, educational event focuses on the impact of the African arts on the Latino/Caribbean culture in music, dance and the visual arts.

Music by Grammy award-winning percussionist, Jeff Haynes with NFA D.R.U.M. (Discipline, Respect, Unity and Music) students.

A special African/Latino art exhibit will be on view featuring work of NPAA students led by local artists, Gerardo Castro and Trish Halverson. Art exhibit opening – February 3 from 3 – 5 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served.
