Canal Kids Wednesdays

Hands-on canal history! Over four weekly sessions, children ages 7–10 will discover how the Delaware & Hudson Canal shaped New York through fun STEAM activities, games, puzzles, and crafts. Each week features a different activity but kids can count on getting a little wet working a model lock and a bilge pump and playing an active game of 'Captain Says'.
Come for one session or all four!
Parents can relax while the program is underway or join in the fun. Siblings are welcome with a parent chaperone.

Aug 12: Hoggee Hunt! Complete a challenge by finding and defining objects in the museum.

Aug 19: Learn Morse Code! Learn about the Telegraph House on our towpath. Make a coded bracelet

Aug 26: Move Cargo! Move coal by wagon and by canal barge to compare friction and buoyancy.

Sep 2: Explore Canals in Books and Movies! Meet the author of The Key to Puzzler’s Lock and solve a cipher.
