October 21st, 2023 | Fall Back to TNP Hike @ Indian Hill Loop

The Indian Hill Loop will be beautiful with foliage season in full swing! Nestled in the beautiful easternmost part of Sterling Forest State Park, this loop hike climbs to several panoramic viewpoints with sweeping eastern and western views. It traverses second-growth forests, a beautiful pond, and crosses numerous old stone walls. We may even get to hug an Oak Tree that is hundreds of years old!

November 4th, 2023 | Leaf Peeping Hike @ Torrey Memorial Deep Hollow Loop

Starting on the famed Long Path, this trail runs from New York City to above Albany, then up the gentle assent of Long Mountain, where the Torrey Memorial is located.  Raymond Torrey is credited for inspiring the creation of the Long Path and Appalachian trail. We’ll enjoy lunch, taking in some of the best views in Harriman State Park before returning along the Deep Hollow Brook!

December 2nd, 2023 | The Revolutionary Outlaw Hike @ Claudius Smith Den Loop

We’ll start with Almost Perpendicular, a popular Harriman trail named after a former rock-climbing area. This trail offers excellent views to the west and south. We’ll continue through Elbow Brush rock formation to Claudius Smith Den, where the outlaw Claudius Smith, who lived in the early 1700s, held up with his outlaw gang. We’ll explore the caves and rock outcroppings before returning to the trailhead.
