Pine Cone Bird Feeders Drop-In Program at the Minnewaska Nature Center
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 09/23/2018
Bring your family to the Minnewaska Nature Center and make a delicious snack for migrating birds. Wear your sloppy clothes or an apron to roll pine cones in a high-calorie mix of vegetable shortening and seeds. Each pine cone will have a string attached to the top so that it can be hung outside your home in a tree. This fatty meal is a welcome source of energy for birds getting ready for winter. And, when the birds come to eat, you'll have a perfect opportunity to watch them forage! This program is recommended for children over the age of six, accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Younger children are welcome to join the activity, but they may require adult assistance. This is a drop-in program and pre-registration is NOT required.
