Those of us who are local Georgians are especially proud to call Jamie our own. Born in Rome, Georgia, she attended Armuchee High School and obtained a bachelor's degree from Shorter University and pursued a master's degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, both degrees in voice performance.

American opera singer, Jamie Barton, also known as “Opera’s Nose Studded Rock Star,” is not only a critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano by virtually every major outlet covering classical music, but also a force for good, sharing her love and care for the community and serving as a voice for many marginalized groups and individuals.

In recognition of her iconic performance at the Last Night of the Proms, Jamie was named 2020 Personality of the Year at the BBC Music Magazine Awards. Also the winner of the Beverly Sills Artist Award and Richard Tucker Award, both Main and Song Prizes at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a Grammy nominee, Jamie has been described by The Guardian as “a great artist, no question, with an imperturbable steadiness of tone, and a nobility of utterance that invites comparison not so much with her contemporaries as with mid-20th century greats such as Kirsten Flagstad.”

There will be time for Q&A, so get your questions ready!

This live virtual event is free to attend, and we are accepting donations (suggested $10) to help our cover the costs of our Virtual Concert Hall programming. Your gift helps ensure that we can continue sharing music that touches the spirit.

Space is limited, so register today to claim your spot!
