Red supergiants are evolved, massive stars that have radii hundreds to thousands of times larger than the radius of our Sun. Kathryn Neugent will speak about red supergiants that also have a blue star companion and exist together in a binary system. Until a few years ago, only a dozen of these systems were known but over the past few years, she and her collaborators have found 250 new systems in our surrounding galaxies.Tune in for Meet an Astronomer every Tuesday @ 2pm
