In the first half of the class students will follow along with the instructor building a pre-designed level to understand the overall workflow and how to work with the software. We do this by creating a basic 3D platformer in Unity with simple objects and pre supplied code.
During the second half of the course students will design their own levels while thinking of ways to engage the player and keep the game interesting. Students will design any additional assets they need in Blender and import them into Unity. After finishing their initial design students will have the opportunity to test each others games for feedback and final design changes.
Game development usually involves balancing multiple disciplines to make a complete product. To keep the class from being overburdened the focus will be on the overall process of making a game, the design of the level, good gameplay and mechanics.
Enroll in a single session for 6 weeks, or the full semester for 12 weeks!
