Camp Kindness is an empowering, memorable, and fun way for kids (8-14) to connect with and learn about animals.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Camp Kindness is an empowering, memorable, and fun way to connect with and learn about animals. New this year:

  • New activities (plus some old favorites)
  • A revamped snack and lunch menu
  • Enhanced facilities
  • Opportunities to continue the camp experience after summer ends

And, as always, there’ll be plenty of time with the fabulous rescued animals of Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

Also new this year – parents and guardians are invited to take part in the camp experience, including the opportunity to take a special cooking class with Compassionate Cuisine!

With two additional weeks, there’s more of an opportunity for everyone to cuddle with a turkey, kiss a pig, groom a horse, enjoy delicious food, build a deeper connection with all living beings, and make new friends of the human and non-human varieties.

Announcing Our New Leadership Camp!

For the first time, we’re offering a two week program, with all the same great activities of single week session, plus extra time to focus on creating change in our community— and spending more time with the animals!

Each camper will have an opportunity to create their own leadership project that will help make a difference for animals. They can continue the project once camp is over. We’ll work with each camper during camp and in the ensuing months to assist them in making this project a reality.

Every one of us, no matter our age, can find ways to create an animal-friendly world.

Camp Kindness is a day camp program available for 8-14 year olds. There are four weekly sessions, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There are no overnight accommodations for campers during the program, but families may book a room at the Homestead or at other local businesses. Space at the Homestead is limited, so be sure to book your room early!

Click on the sessions below to register:

Tuition is $395 for Session 1 and Session 3 (single week camps) and $775 for Session 2 (two week camp). Tuition includes: day camp programs, a vegan snack and lunch each day, a Family level membership to the Sanctuary (Family membership lasts through November), and the opportunity for parents and guardians to take a cooking class all about fun, kid-friendly vegan recipes!

Family membership comes with a number of benefits, including the opportunity to go on a free weekend sanctuary tour! It’s a great opportunity to keep the camp experience going and visit your animal friends.

For more information and to register, please go to https://casanctuary.org/getinvolved/programs/camp-kindness/ or contact Lauren Barbieri, Youth Program Manager.

Please note: The Camp Kindness program includes age appropriate discussions and activities exploring the plight of farmed animals. Catskill advocates vegan food choices as the only diet that is kind and sustainable. We encourage campers to think critically and to express themselves freely. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive, compassionate and completely nonjudgmental atmosphere for all.
