In partnership with Jazz in the Valley, join legendary percussionist Chief Baba Neil Clarke for a free music program for children ages 7-12 in the museum pavilion! Clarke incorporates his skills in the art of storytelling with his program DRUM TALES.
Clarke has traveled the world exploring drumming traditions and styles from the African Diaspora as lead percussionist for Harry Belafonte and 25 years with NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston’s African Rhythms. A frequent educational speaker and presenter of storytelling, Clarke continues the legacy of authentic African drumming traditions in the Americas. He understands the importance of music traditions and the value of passing them down to future generations.
