Rockland Center for the Arts kicks off its’ 2019 exhibition season of “Art and Healing,” exploring the power of art to transform and heal. How can art be used as a healing tool? Art knows no racial, economic or gender barriers and has been used in therapy in treating ailments, including trauma, depression and illness. In conjunction with the exhibitions exploring spirituality in art, RoCA will hold How Art Heals: Panel Discussion on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 7 pm. The event is free to the public. The panelists will speak of the power of art for positive change in physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual health. This panel features three artists discussing their processes of facilitating wellness through dance, music and visual art. Panelists include: Robyn Ellenbogen, artist in residence at New Jersey hospitals, Susan Osberg, choreographer, dancer, Sufi instructor and healer and Andrew Schulman, resident musician in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital. The Moderator is Carole Weaver Linsner, PhD and author of Side Effects: The Art of Surviving Cancer.
