Title Description Cost
Warm Wisdom Incubation & Embryology Educational Program with wundorwoven

Learn how to incubate and hatch chicks AT YOUR HOME: we will provide all equipment, fertile eggs, educational materials and individualized coaching for a stress-free, magical experience!! Seems like such a simple thing… not much to it… but the benefits of allowing a child – especially in urban/suburban areas – to experience the fascination of accompanying the development of an egg into a small chicken (and possibly beyond!) can be astonishing and are impossible to measure. We believe such experiences foster a deep respect and gratitude towards Nature, animals, and our “daily food”. This is a seasonal, fully-supported program, by which families or groups (seniors/clubs) sign up to incubate and raise chicks for the first weeks of their lives (possibly longer if the participant is up for it!) (Keep your peeps or we will bring them back to our farm in Southern Vermont - no long-term commitment!) Available to many areas of NY, CT, NH, MA and VT. Email us!

The special excitement about music training at Bach to Rock comes from playing together in a band! Our professional band coaches bring years of experience in teaching students to play together, make great music and have fun doing it. At B2R, students are placed in compatible bands according to their age, interest, and ability. Bands are usually made up of three to four players and a vocalist (who may also be one of the band’s instrumentalists).

Like playing in a sports league, belonging to a band supports teamwork and positive social interaction. The achievement of mutual objectives during band lessons builds self-esteem, while the opportunity to perform in public at various B2R concerts and compete in Battles of the Bands brings peer recognition, encourages healthy competition, and results in a strong sense of personal accomplishment.

School of Rock Performance-Based Music Programs Rock Socializing— With Social Distancing

Kids have been inspired in the School of Rock community for the last 8 and half years, learning music by playing music– together. Through programs designed for all skill levels, students go from lessons and rehearsal to performance– developing confidence, talent and teamwork skills along the way. Students, ages 7 to 18 engage in a private, one-on-one lesson. Those weekly lessons come with a bonus: the chance to be a rock star. Once enrolled, students become part of a band as well, and play in a socially distanced rehearsal each week. Bands are determined by skill level and age. They practice together for a season (about 4 months) and then play a show. This unique approach allows students to use what they learn from their teacher in the real-world setting of a band, comprised of their peers. They learn to rock on stage and in life.

School of Rock community members also have access to our one-of-a-kind, fully integrated Method app. The App provides an enhanced learning experience and reinforced practice schedule. Parents and students know what should be worked on and progress can be tracked.

Programs—Something For All Ages

Beginning Watercolor with Alan Lewis
Wallkill River School of Art

This beginning watercolor class will be focused on producing finished work.  I have noticed that I have learned best when following along painting with an artist, so that is the approach this class will follow.  The first week will be devoted to materials, helping negotiate between all the different options, and what the importance of each element is.  First time students are encouraged to attend, and to bring whatever you have.  We will then produce a finished painting each week with a different subject, and returning students are welcomed.  The approach will be to paint fast and loose, to cover the basics of watercolor by doing them, and hopefully to have some fun. Sunday Mornings 10am – 12pm at Wallkill River School

Westmoreland Sanctuary will be offering after school programs and camp options.

To supplement your kid’s learning, discovery, and social interaction in these virtual and hybrid learning times, think about sending them here for a nature and science-based experience. Our camps/programs are led by Naturalists with years of experience and use curriculum that adheres to New York Next Generation Science Standards. We use our 640 acre preserve to the fullest and provide kids a safe and fun atmosphere to explore and learn. We have programs for kids and families too!

Classes in Theatre, Dance, Voice and Performance will begin on September 10th and run through May of 2021 at the New York Conservatory for the Arts; the non-profit family-based theatre education center located in Hurley, New York within the beautiful Catskill Forest Preserve. Your children can explore the creativity of a tried-and-true empowering and inspiring performing arts program which is designed for ages 4 through college prep. With 34 years at the helm of arts development in the Hudson Valley, the non-profit organization, which also owns and operates the Woodstock Playhouse and its annual rising-professional Summer Theatre Festival, has been unwaveringly committed to the families and youth of our region and, with prescribed safety and health guidelines, will continue to help parents and their youth performers navigate a celebrated journey of arts exploration.
