Lighthouse Day: The Civil War Era

Come learn about life in the period of the American Civil War and hear the story of the Stony Point Lighthouse, the Hudson River's oldest beacon and its protection of the maritime trade. Balladeer Linda Russel and Storyteller Jonathan Kruk will bring you back to the 1860s with music and stories. Meet the Lightkeeper, Mrs. Nancy Rose and tour the first floor of the lighthouse. The 26th USCT, a Civil War African American Navel living history group will set up camp near the lighthouse and present a program in full period dress,and talk about the contributions of African-Americans to the Union cause and end slavery during the Civil War. Children's games, crafts and refreshments for all!
