"quiet as it's kept" Contemporary Black Art Exhibition
*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 11/10/2023
"quiet as it's kept" is a youth-curated exhibition of contemporary Black art. Join us at the Trolley Barn Gallery, the only youth-curated gallery in New York State, for this unique exhibition of both emerging and established Black artists! This show celebrates art that has been historically marginalized - or "kept quiet" - by established art institutions that have tokenized Black existence. "quiet as it's kept" opens Friday, 10/6, from 6-8pm.
This show was curated by the Youth Curatorial Team in collaboration with guest curator Janice Bond of ART IS BOND Gallery in Houston and Hudson Valley artist Ransome. The exhibition features a variety of media - including sculpture, photography, portraiture, painting, and installation art - that show the diversity of experiences from artists of the African diaspora.
