Ropes: Wilderness Program for Teens

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 05/05/2017
Come to Ropes to play epic night games, have deep conversations, cook over the fire, and hang out in the woods. The teens describe it as a place where they can come to remember who they are.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

We welcome you to join ROPES if you’re ready to take a risk and show up as your entire self.

Join instructors Tyler McNamara, Stephanie Hertel and special guests for edgy and fun experiences in the wilderness.

Ropes: For High School Students

We’ve found that there’s no easier place than the forest to show up as our favorite versions of ourselves. Ropes gives us an extra dose of joy, connection and confidence.

Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors

Each year students face unique challenges and while there is plenty to learn from peers we’ve found that a mix of ages brings even more wisdom to the table. At Ropes high school students of all ages are invited to take risks and show up to challenge and support other freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

A Typical Night At Ropes:

Arrive at 5:30 and share some of the things were grateful for in spite of our busy lives. Hike out to our campfire spot, set up a tarp if it’s rainy and get a fire started via friction with bowdrill, handrill or flint and steel, and share some food and maybe a tasty treat. After eating there’s time for a night hike, a high energy night activity, theater games, or maybe even a rumpus card game called Mao that’s become a bit of a tradition. Later in the evening the group generally engages in deeper conversation. For example, instructors may pose a question such as, “How do you deal with stress and anxiety?” Stories, strategies and conversations follow. At the end of the evening we clean up camp, pack up our gear and head back down the trail to meet parents.

Come to ROPES for a mix of:

  • Night Games
  • Fireside cookouts
  • Intense opportunities for honesty
  • Opportunities to facilitate and experience edge experiences
