Soldier Stories: A Veterans Day Gathering | Kids Out and About Hudson Valley

Soldier Stories: A Veterans Day Gathering

*The event has already taken place on this date: Tue, 11/11/2014
Working with the Museum’s Writer-in-Residence Pamela Hart, veterans will have a chance to craft a story or poem about their military experience.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Connecting to memorable people, events and places from their time in the armed forces will be some of the ways veterans will be encouraged to write their story. The extraordinary Samurai artifacts on view at the Museum can also inspire participants in their writing. The workshop will culminate in a reading and reception during which participants will be invited to share stories and poems with an audience of family and friends. This event is free to veterans and their families.

Pamela Hart was recently awarded a creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts to complete a manuscript of poetry that explores the experience of military families after more than a dozen years of war and multiple deployments.

Please call the museum to register for this free program (914) 232-9555.
