Weekend Nature Programs - Hudson Highlands

Join us for a series of interactive and engaging educational programs about science and nature. Programs may include a presentation, outdoor exploration on our grounds, a lively discussion, a hike and/or a hands-on activity. All programs are rain (snow) or shine (unless otherwise noted) so please dress for the weather.

GO FLORA WALK - FALL

Have you ever wondered about the names of the plants you pass by? Can they provide medicine or food? How did the Native Peoples and other cultures use them? What "sneezeweed is causing your Fall allergies? Join Dr. Christine Halvorsen Baldwin on this special Fall plant walk to learn the answers to all these questions and more as you learn about what is in bloom this time of year. Emphasis will be on plant identification and participant interest.

Come explore the weird and wonderful world of mushrooms! Discover the answers to questions like: are mushrooms plants or not? How do they grow? Why can’t I eat every mushroom I see like a certain mustachioed plumber does? Join us for a fun(gi)-filled mushroom walk where we will talk about how and where they grow, then afterwards enjoy a spore-printing demonstration, and a mushroom-themed craft you can bring home to continue appreciating the fungus among us!
